Adopt A Cat This June
Did you know that June is Adopt a Cat Awareness Month? It’s true! June is the month that both American Humane and the ASPCA encourage pet lovers to open their hearts to a new furry friend and adopt a cat, especially from your local shelter!
Why June?
For many shelters, June is the height of “kitten season.” Many shelters can wind up with entire litters of kittens to care for during the summer.
Pet Shelters Took A Hard Hit This Past Year
Even under normal conditions, it’s an unfortunate fact that shelters sometimes struggle to keep up with caring for all of the pets they have. Now, though, your local animal shelters need more support than ever. Covid rocked us all, changing our routines and making it hard to just get by. Animal shelters have felt this effect, too. An increased lack of foot traffic means that fewer and fewer shelter cats are being adopted. With low funds and supplies, shelters find themselves struggling to care for the cats they have.
Now Is Your Time To Help!
This June, help out your local shelter! Many cats are in need of their forever homes, and that could be you! Consider adopting a cat – a furry friend who is sure to feel like family in no time! If you’re able to, donating to your local shelter so they’re more prepared to care for their animals is a great help, too.
