The tiny mountains of fallen leaves that flank the trails, residential streets, and dog parks of Gresham are good fun for you and your dogs. There is but one time a year when you can wade through the crisp fall leaves with your pups at your heels, diving and wading through leaf piles like Olympic swimmers. We love fall, and it’s likely your canine companions do as well. Here are a few of our favorite fall hikes that our dogs absolutely love.
Ape Canyon, not to be confused with Ape Caves, is a truly spectacular hike located in the Mount St Helens area. This memorable hike meanders through an old-growth forest of colorful vine maples revealing some of the most breathtaking views of Mount St Helens and Mount Adams.
A perennial favorite of Portland locals, Hoyt Arboretum is nothing short of divine in the fall. This is arguably one of the most accessible and spectacular fall park walks you can share with your pup.
Silver Falls State Park
Located in Sublimity, Silver Falls State Park is admittedly a bit out of the way but the trek to our state capital’s neighbor is worth every drop of gas. Silver Falls contains the second highest concentration of waterfalls on a loop hike, second only to the Columbia Gorge. Silver Falls can be hiked over the course of an ambitious day trip as the walk itself is relatively low impact, or it can be broken up into two smaller loops.
