Keep Pests Away

We are continuing our series of tips to keep your dog safe while you explore the great outdoors together! Here in Oregon, we love going out and exploring our numerous trails, hikes, camping, and enjoying nature. It’s fun to take our dogs with us and they love it too! There are a few safety steps you should take for your pup while exploring together!

Summer is almost here which means exploring and hiking with your best friend but it also means the insects are out in full force in the throes of nature. Our sixth tip to help keep your pet safe while exploring is to keep pests away. Even if you can’t escape them, you can’t escape them, with the right control and prevention, you may be able to escape the diseases they can carry.

6. Keep Pests Away

Bugs are more than a nuisance, they can cause some serious medical issues in your pet. Mosquitoes can transmit heartworm disease, and ticks can transmit Lyme Disease or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Use a preventative to protect pets, and add an extra layer of protection by using a pet-friendly insect repellent that contains essential oils. If you do find a tick on your pet, remove it immediately, then clean and dry the area.
